1983 BMW R100 Cafe Racer
88000 miles from new.
What a beautiful machine this is… some real nice touches and built not by me, but the last owner. He had the bike for 14yrs…..
He’s a chap who has never owned a car….
He’s an aircraft engineer who works on turbines and is totally focused on everything engineering in life.
A summary of what he did to the bike is below.
Engine and Gearbox rebuilt . New clutch plate fitted.
Rear drive splines checked and in excellent condition.
New cam chain kit fitted.
Cylinder head fitted with new valve seats, new valve guides and new valves.
Motor-Works Rocker Arm Conversion Kit fitted.
New main wiring loom and secondly wiring looms fitted.
New original equipment electronic ignition trigger unit.
New battery Dynavolt 28 Amp, Stainless steel battery carrier.
New steering head bearings, wheel bearings, swinging arm bearings.
Front and Rear stainless steel wheel spindles. Stainless steel rear mudguard.
New tires fitted front and back.
Stainless Steel exhaust pipes fitted with 40mm Hoske Optik Silencers…not cheap!
Dellorto 38mm carburettors fitted with collapsible choke leavers and 38mm
aluminium inlet funnels. – Better for low down torque and ride-ability and again, very expensive quality items.
Ultra -Rare Magnesium Large capacity oil sump pan 4.5 litres. (This is well over €1000 now, if you can find one!).
Rear light sourced direct from a seller in Tokyo as ‘new old stock’ and the last one they had on the shelf.
New Brembo Brake Discs , New lines and hoses.
New handlebar master brake cylinder.
Brake calipers rebuilt.
Front forks rebuilt.
New lkon dial a ride rear shock absorbers.

My own bike. I have no need to sell the bike, but I’ve used it very little and I’m unlikely to use it that much so should someone want a retro, 70’s style bike that’s maybe a little more subtle and less bling than the usual ‘Bike-Shed’ fare, then this might be it.
Certainly it’s been put together by the last owner with a great deal of care, love and engineering knowledge that’s for sure.
If I had time I’d have swapped out the sump as so rare. Grab a little beauty and a bargain. Offers in the region of £5999 please.
12mths MOT from 4th Oct onwards… and as it’s my own personal bike, not a company sale.
